Deciding upon wishes we have for ourselves is easy. Attempting to reach these achievements is tough without motivational fire. As plans show little progress our minds pull us away from goals unless motive is firm. For anyone trying a new or old exercise routine, setbacks are bound to happen. Planning forms the candle to reach a goal, but you must light the wick.

Fitness Success

A person bought the clothes necessary for walking at a local beach. He even chose the day to start this exercise. Setting plans prepares anyone to honor themselves to practice a behavior. The materials and time developed the candle his motivation would later light.

After the walk, this person ventured home proud they acted on their plan. Before parking at his house, he scheduled another exercise day. Success expanded when the walker felt more energetic compared to watching a television. He can rejoice in the moment and praise himself more after finishing a SMART goal (Read Set Goals here). All triumphs deserve celebrations to reignite motivation.

Failed Goals

“Push the bar! Pull yourself up! Only one more lap!” When we can’t perform a repetition motivation dwindles. Return to the example of someone starting a walking routine. They bought the clothing for this exercise, but stand outside the car looking at the beach.

The eagerness to walk for a set time diminished. “Not today,” they say while starting up the car. The dream of binge eating in front of a television enters their mind. When asked about the walk the person replies they didn’t feel ready. They can buy the equipment, but inspiration limits their pursuance to exercise.

Body aesthetic results aren’t immediate as we wish they were. One step on the beach doesn’t implement noticeable physical changes. The walker drove to the park dressed for success, but contemplated sitting instead. When someone prepares to change, they will have missteps in any habit. Losing a goal doesn’t end the mission, you decide to stop. Failure is losing passion to make any attempt.

Stage Reversion

Throughout any objective people can revert to the past. This might occur before a routine or years later. Refueling the motivation to stand up and try your best is a daily endeavor. Taking the first step to walk is as hard as you make it. At the parking lot, the walker felt uncomfortable and stopped. The walking routine started from a plan, but lacked personal purpose. The reason to set a goal is fundamental to the objective’s mission.

The soon-to-be walker acknowledged his doctor’s lecture about physical activity and health. These medical facts became his reason to prepare a walking routine. This form of goal setting isn’t wrong, but needs internal motivational strength. Thus, when the location and time were set, the walker’s motivation faltered. Sitting in front of a TV consuming loads of processed foods appeared more fun. Reflecting on time spent at the couch, he realized this lifestyle doesn’t support his vision of a dignified man.

Success Motivates the Climb

Leaving your comfort zone allows us to develop new journeys. Defeating yourself, as the walker did, resorts back to a safe environment where you won’t advance. Success motivates our future while losses dim the flame. Ask yourself about any wall you struggle to pass. Your will to succeed must be stronger to improve past any supposed limit.
