Yoga and meditation have been practiced for centuries and are proven to help with a variety of mental health issues. Before experiencing a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Mente Soul didn’t attempt either of these. Family along with Occupational and Cognitive Therapists discussed the benefits of yoga and meditation towards my recovery.

Each individual manages their brain power to gain rewards. Yoga is known to help with flexibility, discipline, and fitness while meditation helps with depression, stress, PTSD, and peace of mind. This section will cover the many benefits of yoga and meditation which can help someone’s physical and mental health.

What are Yoga and Meditation?

Yoga and meditation are both practices that have been shown to have many benefits for your mental, physical, and emotional health.

Yoga is a practice that goes back to the ancient times of India. It is a form of exercise which consists of postures, breathing exercises and meditation. It has been used as a way to connect the mind, body and spirit together in order to achieve inner peace.

Meditation is also an ancient practice that has been used for centuries by Buddhist monks in Tibet. The goal of meditation is to focus on your breath while clearing your mind from any thoughts or distractions. This practice can be done anywhere at any time because it does not require equipment or supplies.

Remember to apply history of yoga and meditation when considering yoga types and equipment to aid the body into a calm, meditative state.

Positive and Negative

The world has been through a lot of changes in the past decade. The most recent one being the emergence of technology in our lives.

The effects of this change have been felt by everyone, including our mental health. Technology has significantly improved our lives in many ways, but there are also negative effects. Internet searches on a computer answer factual information, but they don’t inform the user about themselves.

The good news is that there are ways to combat negativity. Yoga and meditation are two practices that can help you manage your stress levels and improve your mental health.

Benefits

Yoga and meditation are two forms of physical and mental exercise gaining popularity for kids and adults. Attest you have any equipment desired to aid your practice. The benefits of these two practices are well-documented, but rewards are given to the disciplined.

Stress and Anxiety

Serving others is a great trait to have, however, there are always extremes. Taking an hour to calm the mind and follow a yoga guide while on a mat assists your mind. Balance the feet, then the mind tempering your thoughts after meditation. Give some time for yourself generating energy to decrease stress and anxiety for others.

Flexibility and Strength

The body will not develop characteristics unless trained. Yoga commands the body to develop lower and upper muscles from postures to stretches. When students engage in utkatasana (chair pose) to ardha kapotasana (half pigeon) poses they are ordering the body to increase strength and flexibility while simultaneously calming the brain.

Emotion

Through nonstop recovery experienced after a TBI, following instruction became a habit. Yoga and meditation guide us, but we decide what our head needs. This main factor set them apart from athletic sports Mente Soul trained. Calm the mind by relieving wants and worries for a moment.

Self-realization

Yoga is a life practice that can help improve flexibility, reduce stress, even improve sleep among others. Meditation has been shown to have many mental health benefits and has also continued since ancient times. The peace and calm acquired from embracing yoga and meditation lead you to the eternal self. Share the soul with others to lower negative worry and suffering from what life has taught you.
